Indulge in Bavaria's Best

October 08, 2017

One of the great assets of California in general, and the Los Angeles area in particular, is the tremendous cultural diversity that opens up new perspectives and enhances the joy of life for us all. From now through the end of the month, you can take part in Southern California’s longest-running Oktoberfest, where authentic German food, drink, and music are a recipe for some of the liveliest parties of the year. What began as a regional Bavarian celebration is now a mainstay of major cities from LA to Leipzig, from Stuttgart to Sydney. Our own SoCal festivities take place in the Apline Village of Torrence, where, for the rest October, you can head down on Fridays after 5 P.M. or Saturdays after 6 P.M. for the best German beers, bratwurst, sausage, and sauerkraut (among other culinary delights). You’ll also be entertained by a string of live oom-pah-pah bands and more lederhosen-clad men than you’d ever thought possible. Folks looking for an especially kid-friendly celebration will want to check out the Sunday festivities. Bring a hardy appetite and your tallest stein (the lederhosen are optional).
