Produced by the Hollywood office of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the annual Genesis Awards is the only event of its kind honoring the major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works in television, film and print which raise public awareness of animal issues.The 24th Genesis Awards will pay tribute to the special relationship between people and dogs.
Nominees include The Cove, Up, Hotel For Dogs,The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Larry King Live, Bones, The Closer, Monk, The Family Guy, South Park, 60 Minutes, The Today Show, Nightline, Extreme Makeover; Home Editionand Whale Wars. TippiHedren will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by daughter Melanie Griffith. Confirmed presenters include: Kristen Bell (When in Rome), Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck), KaleyCuoco (The Big Bang Theory), Emily Deschanel (Bones), JessalynGilsig (Glee), Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives),Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing with the Stars), Peter Jacobson (House), Tim Kang (The Mentalist), Eva La Rue (CSI: Miami), Jon Lovitz (SNL/Simpsons), WendieMalick (Hot in Cleveland), Maria Menounos (Access Hollywood), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist), Reid Scott (My Boys), Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family), Jennifer Taylor (Two and a Half Men) (Michael Vartan (Hawthorne)and Owain Yeoman (The Mentalist).Also attending are special guests RicO’Barry (The Cove), and Major Brian Dennis and his dog“Nubs” from Iraq.
